Holcomb, Kansas

Amelia "Amy" Little, 72, of Holcomb, Kansas passed away Sunday, July 21, 2024 at The Ranch House in Garden City, Kansas. She was born August 15, 1951 to Albert "Pat" and Donna (Chamness) Little in Hugoton, Kansas. She was raised in Richfield, Kansas with her six siblings and graduated from Rolla High School in Rolla, Kansas in 1968.

After high school, Amy attended Grace School of Nursing in Hutchinson, Kansas, where she graduated with an associate's degree in nursing in 1971.

After college, she moved to Garden City where she started working at St. Catherine Hospital as a nurse in the Medical/Surgical unit before she settled in the NICU attending the babies and their mothers. She retired from the hospital in 2015 after 44 years, where she not only touched the lives of her patients but also the lives of her many coworkers and students. She and two of her good friends/coworkers co-owned and ran The Antique Needle in Garden City for a few years in the 80's. After moving to Holcomb in 1994 with her two children, she worked as a substitute nurse for the Holcomb and Garden City school districts for a short time in the late 90's/early 2000s as a second job.

Some of Amy's favorite hobbies throughout her life were cross stitching, painting, bingo, bowling, playing puzzle computer games, listening to music, and watching Judge Judy and Joe Kenda.

She is survived by her loving children, Patrick Little and Meghan (Joseaph) Wallace; sisters, Sandra Bane, Vivian Little, Mary (Gary) Barker, Barbra Little, and Leslie (Tom) Oder; 15 nieces and nephews, and numerous great nieces and nephews. She also loved hanging out with family and friends and keeping in touch with them over Facebook whenever possible.

Amy is preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Robert Little, and brother-in-law, Randy Bane.
