Carlene Kay Ball

Carlene Kay Ball, Garden City, passed away peacefully on November 30, 2024, in Wichita, Kansas. She was the daughter of Carl Joseph and Lucetta Josephine “Peggy” (Stevens) Nail, born on October 11, 1940, in Garden City, Kansas. 

Carlene was married to her loving husband, Darryl Ball. Together, they created a home filled with love and joy. Carlene was an individual who found great happiness in her family.

Carlene was a member of the Church of Brethren in Garden City. Her passions extended beyond her family; she was a Black Powder rendezvous enthusiast and took pleasure in her work as a dog groomer. Her interests also included collecting Indian artifacts and enjoying the soulful rhythms of jazz music. These hobbies reflected her vibrant spirit and zest for life.

Survivors include husband, Darryl Ball, Garden City, Kansas, three daughters, Carla Shields, Brenda Johnson and companion Stanley, Charie Triplett, grandchildren, Brody Shields, Annelee Shields, Jessica Bunch and husband Carl, and Bryan Johnson; great-grandchildren, Shawn Bunch and Cheyenne Bunch and nieces Cherie Baar, DeeDee Pothier.

Carlene was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Norma Schiffelbein.

Memorial established for Church of Brethren and Wounded Warrior Project, in care of Robson Funeral Home, 620 N. Main St., Garden City, KS 67846.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, from 10 AM to 8 PM. at Robson Funeral Home, Garden City, Kansas. 

Funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 5, 2024, at 10:00 AM at the Church of Brethren, Garden City, Kansas, followed by burial at Valley View Cemetery, Garden City. 

Carlene Kay Ball will be remembered for her warmth, her love for her family, and her many contributions to the community that she held so dear.
