Obituary for Caryn Jean Gugelmeyer

The world lost a kind, generous woman with the passing of Caryn Jean Gugelmeyer, 63, on September 16, 2016.
She was a giving and supportive wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend to many. Caryn Berlier was born June 19, 1953, in Las Vegas, N.M., the daughter of Earl and Glenda Berlier. She spent her early childhood on the family ranch in rural northeastern New Mexico before the family moved to Lakin, Kan., in 1963.
Caryn graduated from Lakin High in 1971 and married David Gugelmeyer of Garden City, Kan., on May 5, 1973.
Later that year, the young couple moved to Wagon Mound, N.M., and managed part of the Berliers’ ranch. They made their home there for several years before returning to Lakin to raise their young children.
Besides helping on the ranch, in recent years Caryn worked at Tri Rotor Spray & Chemical, Ulysses, Kan.
Caryn was a very dedicated mother to her four children Aimee, Jerad, Jeremy and Amanda. She supported them in all that they did from 4-H Junior Leaders to rodeo to band concerts. She also enjoyed cooking, sewing and quilting.
She was a proud and supportive grandmother of seven and loved cheering them on at ball games, wrestling tournaments and rodeos.
In addition to her husband, David, Caryn is survived by her father, Earl Berlier, children Aimee (Roger) Dickey, Jerad (Corrine) Gugelmeyer, Jeremy (Sara) Gugelmeyer, Amanda (Nick) Peterson; sister Daryl (David) Owen, brother Wade Berlier, and grandchildren Colby, Logan and Dylan Gugelmeyer; Calvin and Maggie Gugelmeyer; Tru Peterson and Trinitee Dickey.
She is preceded in death by her mother Glenda Berlier.
Per Caryn’s wishes, her family held a private gathering in celebration of her life. In lieu of flowers and out of respect for her battle with cancer, donations may be made in her name to Central Care Cancer Center, Attn: Agatha, 410 E. Spruce, Garden City, KS
Paul’s-Robson Funeral Home, Ulysses is in charge of arrangements
