Danelle Monique Groth Schiffelbein, 35, of Satanta, KS, passed away at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City, KS, on November 23, 2019, surrounded by family and friends after a short battle with cancer.
She was born January 13, 1984, to Jim and Jan (Winter) Groth in Satanta. She graduated Valedictorian of the Satanta High School class of 2002 and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Washburn University in 2007, graduating Summa Cum Laude. Danelle worked for Lifetouch Church Division in Kansas City before moving back to Satanta to open Studio 113 Photography.
Danelle and Geoff Schiffelbein were married September 13, 2014, in Satanta. They enjoyed spending time at the golf course and watching the Kansas City Chiefs play. Their most memorable trip was attending the Kentucky Derby in 2015 and traveling on to Nashville and Memphis. In their short 5 years of marriage, they had lots of adventures that made many memories.
An active member of the community, she was a member of Satanta United Methodist Church, the Satanta Arts Council, and the Lions Club.
Danelle was the art teacher at Satanta Jr.–Sr. High School. Her artistic interests included photography, woodworking, gardening, and crocheting. She enjoyed helping her dad on the farm, always accepting new challenges. She spent the summer preceding this school year working to remodel the school’s art room and was excited to make the transition to teaching art.
Survivors include husband Geoff Schiffelbein, Satanta; parents Jim and Jan Groth, Satanta; grandmother Darlene Groth, Satanta; in-laws Tim and Layne Schiffelbein, Garden City; brothers-in-law Tyler Schiffelbein and wife Katie, Russell, KS, and Tucker Schiffelbein, Garden City; sister-in-law Emma Schiffelbein, Garden City; nephew Bryant Schiffelbein, Russell; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Danelle was preceded in death by her grandparents James E. Groth and Russell and Bonnie Winter.
Visitation will be Friday, November 29, 2019, 10:00 am to 8:00 pm at Robson Funeral Home in Satanta. Family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 pm.
Funeral service will be Saturday, November 30, 2019, at 10:00 am at the Satanta United Methodist Church with graveside services to follow at Dudley Township Cemetery, Satanta.
