Floyd G. Knox passed away peacefully in his home on Monday, April 14, 2025, in Hugoton, Kansas. Floyd was in hospice and had two caregivers, Stephanie Bond and Wyatt Randle.

Floyd was born on October 27, 1939, in Hugoton, Kansas, to Dean E. and Lorraine (Wilson) Knox.

Floyd and Shirley Ann Whitson were married on August 17, 1961, at the United Methodist Church in Morton County.

A proud lifelong resident of Hugoton, Floyd was cherished by many for his happy demeanor and generous spirit, always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.

Floyd dedicated an impressive 50 years of his life to serving the city of Hugoton from 1957 until his retirement in 2007. His career was notably marked not only by his work with the city but also by his passion for ranching, agriculture, and working for fellow farmers. He significantly contributed to the community as a volunteer for the Stevens County Fire Department.

Floyd went to Hugoton High School, and he embraced the values of hard work and perseverance throughout his life. He took immense pride in his family, often stating that being a family man was one of his proudest accomplishments. He enjoyed various hobbies, including ranching, cattle handling, building fences, and attending auctions. He was a cowboy at heart.

Floyd is survived by his wife, Shirley Knox; son, Floyd Eugene Knox, and daughter-in-law, Maureen, both of Hugoton, as well as his brother Tony Knox and sister-in-law Donna of Longview, Texas. His legacy will also live on through his grandson, Denver Knox of Hays, Kansas, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members and friends who were touched by his unwavering support and kindness.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Delbert Leslie Knox Sr., Herb Knox, and Virgil Knox, along with three sisters, Odessa Leavitt, Nellie Creason, and Maxine Sexton.

Memorial has been established for the Project Hope of Hugoton, in care of Robson Funeral Home, PO Box 236, Hugoton, Kansas 67951.

A visitation to honor Floyd will be held at Robson Funeral Home in Hugoton on Thursday, April 24, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 7:00 PM.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, April 25, 2025, at My Father's House of Hugoton, 11 AM, with presiding Pastor Pam Peachey.

Floyd G Knox will be remembered not only for his contributions to his community and profession but also for the joy he brought to the lives of those around him. He leaves behind a rich legacy of love, service, and dedication that will be cherished by all who knew him.
