Galen F. Vsetecka, 73, of Garden City, KS passed away Wednesday, March 12, 2024 at St. Catherine’s Hospital in Garden City. A celebration of Galen’s life will be 10 am Wednesday, March 20, 2024 at the Garden City Seventh Day Adventist Church, 2710 Fleming Street, Garden City, Kansas. The family suggest memorial contributions be made to the church or St. Jude’s Children Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
Galen was born January 24, 1951 to the late BF and June Vsetecka in Great Bend, Kansas and was raised in Scott City. He worked for J & M Painting and as a meat cutter for Wal-Mart, where he met his future wife Denise. They were married on March 22, 2013. Galen had a great sense of humor and was able to smile through the toughest times. He enjoyed golfing and tending to his yard. He would make sure his yard was one of the best on the block. Galen was an avid Yankee’s fan, enjoyed drawing and spending time at Scott Lake fishing with wife and best friend Denise. Galen was also a member of the Garden City Seventh Day Adventist Church where he was known as prayer warrior.
Galen is survived by his loving wife of 13 years, Denise Weber; a son, Troy Vsetecka; brother, Thomas Vsetecka and wife Charlene; a sister, Kayla Johnson and husband Chuck; two grandchildren, Messina Dinkle and Taegyn Vsetecka. He is preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Rob Vsetecka and sister, Terri Jantz. (Arr. Robson Funeral Home-Garden City)
