Gene Link

Gene Link, 69, passed away from this life Wednesday, September 19, 2018 in Beaver, OK.
Willard Gene was the son of Willard and Genevieve (Williams) Link. He was born January 20, 1949, Liberal, KS.
Gene and Nancy McCarter were married August 10, 1968 at United Methodist Church, Rolla, KS.
Gene was an amazing husband, father, and grandfather. Gene and Nancy loved to go to Colorado and enjoyed the scenery. He was known as the handyman in the family from fixing race cars or remodeling the families homes. He enjoyed going to shoot guns with his youngest grandson, Gavin. In the last year he really enjoyed helping Shala and Jason remodel their basement. He enjoyed going to the race track with his son, Tracy and two grandsons, Taylor and Nicholas. One of his favorite things was his dog Benji, he treated him like he was one of the kids.
Gene was very active and supportive on behalf of his community. He served on the Rolla USD 217 School Board for 16 years. He was on the Rolla City Council and Rolla Cemetery board. He was a member of the Morton County Grazing Association.
Survivors include, wife, Nancy Link, Rolla, KS; son, Tracy Link, Rolla, KS; daughter, Shala LaRue and husband Jason, Rolla, KS; three grandsons, Taylor and Nick Link, Gavin LaRue, all of Rolla, KS; two sisters, Wilene Burrows and husband Larry, Rolla, KS, Diana Garland and husband Keith, Wichita, KS; brother in law, Bill Mangels, Omaha, NE.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Cynthia Mangels.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 29, 2018 at 11 AM at United Methodist Church, Rolla, KS. Burial will follow at the Rolla Cemetery, Rolla, KS.
Viewing will be held on Thursday, September 27, 2018 at 10 AM to 8 PM and Friday, September 28, 2018 at 10 AM to 8 PM, Paul’s-Robson Funeral Home, Hugoton.
