Jo Ann Forward Sessler, 87, of Quartzsite, AZ, passed away peacefully Friday, July 28, 2017 at Hospice of the Valley-Lund Home in Gilbert, AZ after suffering a stroke on Monday, July 17th.
Born August 22, 1929 in Goddard, KS, she was the youngest of Glenn and Ann Forward’s seven children.
JoAnn graduated from Hugoton High School in 1947, married her high school sweetheart, Warren Robert “Bob” Sessler, June 1, 1948 in Hugoton and together, they walked hand in hand through life for more than 69 years.
They were blessed with two children: Greg Sessler (April) of Amarillo, Texas and Connie Miles (Greg) of Gilbert, Arizona, 7 grandchildren: Sara Sessler Vrede (Kai), Stephanie Sessler Moss (Jacob), Sam Sessler (Mandy), Garrett Miles (Amy), Rob Miles (Melissa) Kellie Miles Wagner (Daniel), Melissa Miles Hatch (Logan); 19 great grandchildren and 3 step great grandchildren. In addition to those mentioned above, JoAnn is survived by sisters, Mildred Moser (Earl Gene) and Jean Coulter (Harold) of Hugoton, Dula Hughes (James) of Haverhill, Ohio and brothers, Charles Forward (Evalean) of Hugoton, Wayne Forward (Mary Ann) of Moscow, KS and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and sister, Maxine Phillips (Ebert) of Hugoton.
Funeral services will be held at the Hugoton Branch Meetinghouse of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 520 E 1st Street, Hugoton on Saturday, August 5th: Visitation with the family at 1:00 pm and Service at 2:00 pm. Burial will follow at the Hugoton Cemetery.
