Judy Kay Cantrell, a beloved matriarch and cherished member of her community, passed away peacefully on August 20 2024, in her hometown of Moscow, Kansas. Born on May 11, 1937, to the parents of Orval Lee and Leola Fay (Henderson) Slemp. Judy's life was a beautiful tapestry woven with the threads of love, compassion, and unwavering dedication to her family and friends.
Throughout her journey of 87 years, Judy embodied the essence of kindness and generosity. A loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother she touched innumerable lives with her genuine care and concern for others. Her nurturing spirit was a source of comfort for many, providing solace and strength in times of need.
Judy's life was illuminated by the joy she derived from her family. She never hesitated to lend a listening ear or extend a helping hand. The warmth of her presence and the love she radiated will forever be etched in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her. Her love knew no bounds for her grandchildren and great grandchildren, whether taking them in her home and raising them to going to every Moscow Wildcat activity she could. She was an incredible Nanny inside and out to her own and others.
As she transitioned to her eternal home, Judy joins her parents, Orval Lee and Leola Fay Slemp, her beloved husband, Henry Cantrell, and her cherished daughter, Tami Faylene Orozco, who all welcomed her at the heavenly gates. Their reunion is a testament to the profound bonds of love that transcend even the greatest of life's obstacles.
Judy is survived by a daughter, Lana Damron; grandchildren, Kayla Saucedo, Kindra Munn, Amika Saucedo and husband KC Smith, Jaime Saucedo, Tony Munn, Mandee Borjas and husband Sergio, Torrey Cantrell; great grandchildren, Deja, Nolan, Isaac and companion, Leta, Tami, Rylee, Sergio, Amri, Holly, Eva, Emily, Jocelyn, Crystal, Brayden, Benjamin, Joseff, Anthony, Jayden, Liamm; great-great grandchildren, Raelynn and Amarion; and many other adored family and friends.
A memorial has been established for Judy Cantrell Memorial Fund, in the care of Robson Funeral Home, P.O. Box 236, Hugoton, Kansas 67951.
Visitation services will be held on Sunday, August 25, 2024 from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m. and Monday, August 26, 2024 from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. at Robson Funeral Home, Hugoton.
Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 27, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at Moscow Christian Fellowship. Burial to follow at Moscow Cemetery with Pastor Patty Lahey presiding.
Judy Kay Cantrell will be dearly missed but never forgotten. Her unwavering love and kindness will live on in the many lives she has touched, a beacon of light in a world that often craves such warmth. May she find peace and joy in the embrace of her loved ones once more.
