Karolyn Kay Crane, a cherished lifelong resident of Hugoton, Kansas, passed away on Friday, April 25, 2025, in Ulysses, Kansas, at the age of 85.
Karolyn was born on March 24, 1940, in Hugoton to Kester and Ruth (Renfro) Gentzler. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend whose nurturing spirit and generous heart touched the lives of many.
Karolyn dedicated many years of her career as a Certified Nursing Assistant at the Morton County Health Care Center, where her compassion for others was evident in her daily interactions. Known for her warmth and care, she has strong bonds with both her patients and colleagues.
Throughout her life, Karolyn had a passion for creating beautiful memories for her family. Her talent for crocheting has become a treasured legacy, as she lovingly crafted Christmas stockings, each uniquely designed for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She took pride in her gardening, finding solace and joy in nurturing flowers; she also enjoyed reading books and watching her sons’ car races, often bringing her entire family together to share in the excitement.
Karolyn’s pride and joy were her family, whom she loved deeply. She is survived by her four children, Tammie Peterson and husband Steve of Hugoton, Perry Crane and wife Billie of Hugoton, Barry Crane and wife Amber, Ulysses, and Tricia Ungles and Barry of Wichita. Her legacy continues through her 13 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren.
Karolyn was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Jeanetta Lynn Crane, and her sister Joyce Leonard.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 27, 2025, from 4 PM to 8 PM at Robson Funeral Home, Hugoton.
Funeral service will be held on Monday, April 28, 2025, at 10:30 AM at Hugoton Assembly of God, Hugoton, Kansas. Burial will follow at Hugoton Cemetery.
Karolyn Kay Crane will be remembered not only for her compassionate dedication to others but also for her deep love of family and the joy she spread through her creative talents. She leaves behind a lasting legacy of love that will be cherished by all who knew her.
