Larry Lee Brady, a beloved husband, father, pa pa, and educator, passed away on April 12, 2025, in Wichita, Kansas at the age of 86.

Larry was born on March 15, 1939, in Alva, Oklahoma, to Ralph Clay and Myrtle Corinne (Brown) Brady. Larry's life was marked by a passion for agriculture, teaching and a deep love for his family.

Larry and Nelda Porter were married on June 3, 1959, in Yewed, Oklahoma. To this union are three children: Scott, Cyndy, and Michelle.

Larry was a member of the Balko Baptist Church for many years.

Larry dedicated over three decades of his life to nurturing young minds as an Ag Teacher at Balko High School in the Oklahoma Panhandle from 1961 until his retirement in 1994. His commitment to education earned him the honor of being inducted into the Oklahoma Ag Teacher Hall of Fame, a testament to his influence and dedication in the field. He graduated from Oklahoma State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, which laid the foundation for the many lives he would inspire throughout his career.

Alongside his teaching career, Larry and his wife, Nelda, opened a restaurant named PIGS R US in Hugoton, Kansas after retirement. His love for raising show pigs brought joy to many, as he often included his family in this rewarding endeavor. In addition to agriculture, he enjoyed gardening and was a passionate supporter of the Oklahoma State Cowboys and Cowgirls, often spending time watching their games with family.

Larry was recognized not only for his professional achievements but also for his warm and vibrant personality. He had a remarkable ability to make family and friends laugh, always ready with a good joke. His playful spirit, combined with his loving nature, made him a cherished figure in the lives of those who knew him. His family recalls him as a fun and loving husband, dad, and pa pa, who took great pride in his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren—these were his proudest accomplishments.

Larry is survived by his wife, Nelda Brady of Hugoton, Kansas; a son, Scott Brady and wife Toni of Enid, Oklahoma; two daughters, Cyndy Glover of Kingfisher, Oklahoma, and Michelle Heger and husband Darin of Hugoton, Kansas. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, Kylee Martin and husband David, Kinzie Didier and husband Michael, Laton Heger and wife Ashton, Macy Whiteaker and husband Joey, Brady Heger, Karsten Brady, Casle Heger, and Jayce Heger, along with great-grandchildren, Isaac Gannon, Grace, Aleigh, Sam, Hunter, and Jordy. His extended family includes Tara, Bo, Carson, and Tucker Hannaford, Levi, Marie, Kailyn, Jake, and Kinsley Bond, Brady Bond, Cody, Makayla, Lovie, Harrison, and Lainey Bond as well as other relatives and friends.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter-in-law, Kimberly Brady; son-in-law, David Glover; sisters, Maxine Pederson, Vera Mae Smith, Marie Ellen Watkins, and Gayle Jones; a brother, Ronald Brady mother-in-law, Nellie Veryle Porter; and father-in-law, Merle Porter.

Memorials have been established for Balko Baptist Church and Balko FFA Chapter; in care of Robson Funeral Home, PO Box 236, Hugoton, KS 67951.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at Robson Funeral Home in Hugoton, Kansas, from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM; the family will receive family and friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, from 10:30 AM to 2:00 PM at Balko Baptist Church, Balko, Oklahoma.

The funeral service will be held Wednesday, April 16, 2025 at 2:30 PM, at Balko Baptist Church, with burial to follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Balko, Oklahoma with Keith Harris presiding.
