Leslie L. Wagner passed away on Saturday, October 19, 2024, Gothenburg, Nebraska. 

Leslie L. Wagner was born on July 1, 1956, to Sherman and Carola Baird in Dodge City, Kansas. She grew up in Garden City, Kansas, and graduated from Garden City High School in 1974. She continued her education at Fort Hays State University, earning her degree in 1978. Shortly after, she became a devoted mother to two sons, Nick and Chris Wagner.

Leslie dedicated her life to education, beginning her teaching career at Sacred Heart in Dodge City, where she taught for 10 years. She later served in the Holcomb School District for 13 years, followed by 11 years in the Garden City School District. She concluded her teaching career in Spearman, Texas. Throughout her career, Leslie loved and cared deeply for her students, always committed to their success. In addition to her formal teaching, she shared her love for music through private piano lessons.

A devoted animal lover, Leslie was passionate about rescuing and caring for abandoned dogs and cats. Her compassion and generosity extended beyond her family and students to every living being.

Leslie is survived by her two sons, Nick Wagner of Wichita, Kansas, and Chris (Shanda) Wagner of Gothenburg, Nebraska, as well as her sister, Monte Mathias. She is also survived by two grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Sherman Baird, in 2000, and her mother, Carola Baird, in 2001.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Finney County Humane Society, reflecting Leslie's lifelong love for animals.

Book Signing on Wednesday, October 23, 2024 from 10 AM to 5 PM at Robson Funeral Home, Garden City; and on Thursday, October 24, 2024, from 10 AM to 8 PM at Robson Funeral Home, Garden City.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 25, 2024 at 10:30 AM at Robson Funeral Home, Garden City.
