Melynda “Mendy” Elisibeth Leonard Graves, 48, passed away from this life Sunday, November 7, 2021, at her home in Satanta, Kansas.
The daughter of Eldon Eugene Leonard and Elisibeth Clifft. She was born June 19, 1973, in Ulysses, Kansas. Mendy graduated from Hugoton High School in 1991. She attended Dodge City Community College and graduated with an Early Childhood Education degree.
Mendy worked as a teacher for USD #210. She began her career in 2008 in the Early Childhood Development Program. The children and their parents loved her and enjoyed the time spent together learning and playing.
Mendy’s hobbies included gardening and tending to her flowers.
Survivors include daughter, Monet Graves, Lawrence, KS; son, Mylen Howe, Satanta, KS; parents, Gene and Shirley Leonard, Hugoton, KS; aunt, Carol Leonard, Hugoton, KS; sister, Malissa Hicks and husband Tom, Surprise, AZ; brother, Scott Nordyke and wife Michelle, Kansas City, MO; brother, Derrick Nordyke, Hugoton, KS; sister, Shellina “Shelly” Shearer and husband Brian, Brazil, IN; brother, Michael Leonard and wife Neva, Liberal, KS; nephews, Nathan Hicks and Dylan Nordyke; nieces Chelsea Sanchez, Nicole O’Hern, Ceara Brockman, Trista Nordyke, and Abigale Shearer.
She was preceded in death by mother, Elisibeth Clifft and grandparents, Clarence and Orpha Leonard.
A memorial has been established for Pheasant Heaven Charities, in care of Robson Funeral Home, P.O. Box 236, Hugoton, Kansas 67951.
Visitation will be held Friday, November 12, 2021, 10 AM to 8 PM, Robson Funeral Home, Hugoton. Family will receive friends from 6 PM to 8 PM.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, November 13, 2021, 11 AM, Church of God, Hugoton with Pastor Pam Peachey.
Robson Funeral Home, Hugoton is in charge of arrangements.
