Oretha June Ballinger

Oretha June (Coulter) Ballinger was born to Elmer & Letha (Walker) Coulter on May 3rd, 1939 along with her twin sister Aleatha Jean in Walsh, CO. She passed away, February 26th, 2024 at the age of 84 in Garden City, KS.

Oretha was married for 58 and a half years to Delbert G. Ballinger until his death in 2014. In that time, she was a school bus driver for many years, an Avon salesperson, and most of all a stay-at-home mother to her three daughters. After they retired they enjoyed traveling, where Oretha would indulge in her love of golf and hiking to hunt rocks and arrowheads. She would also make sure to travel to all her grandchildren’s events, large or small. 

She was preceded in death by her husband Delbert, two daughters, Sharon Schrant and Diane Smith, one grandson, Darrel Schrant, her parents, and all eight of her siblings. 

She is survived by her daughter Debrina and Dwight Grewing of Garden City, KS, son-in-law, Joe Jimenez of Attica, KS, five grandchildren, Doug Schrant, Zachary Grewing, Rhianna Gray, Helena Grewing, Allie Smith, six great-grandchildren, Alexis, Mattea, Emry, Owen, Idgy and Weston, sister-in-law, Wilma Chase; Lucille Coulter and a slew of nieces, nephews and cousins. And more friends than anyone I’ve ever known.

She loved her family, and friends, with all her heart and will be missed more than words can say. 

There will be no service as per her wishes. Cremation has taken place under the care of Robson Funeral Home in Garden City.
