RETA MAXINE PORTER DEWEY
Maxine Porter Dewey, 97, passed away December 2, 2016 at Stevens County Hospital, Hugoton, KS.
She was daughter of Roy and Leona (Kerns) Swan on February 24, 1919, Stevens County, KS.
Maxine was a graduate of Hugoton High School.
She married Melton Porter on November 4, 1939 in Dodge City, KS. Born to this union where three children, Nancy, Gary and Steven. Melton died on January 9, 1966 and later she married James Dewey in Hugoton on December 11, 1970. She resided in Borger, TX until entering the Pioneer Manor Nursing, Hugoton in 2008.
Survivors include two sons, Gary & wife Janie Porter, Hugoton, KS., Steven & wife Jane Porter, Ulysses, KS.; Stepdaughter Patricia & husband James Brooks, Leander, TX; 8 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, James Dewey, daughter, Nancy Porter Claggett, brothers, Leland and Ira Swan, sisters, LoRee Folger and La Vada Coulter.
A memorial has been established for Pioneer Manor Nursing Home, Hugoton. Memorials may be mailed to Paul’s-Robson Funeral Home-PO Box 236-Hugoton, KS 67951.
Funeral Services will held on Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at 2 PM at the First Christian Church, Hugoton and burial at Hugoton Cemetery with Pastor Heath Kelley presiding.
Friends may call Monday 10 AM to 8 PM at the funeral home.
