Travis Lee Pitts

Travis Lee Pitts, won his battle with cancer and joined Jesus on Wednesday, July 24, 2024, in Ingalls, Kansas. Born on February 27, 1976, in Garden City, Kansas to his parents, Terry Lee and Roxie Lynn (Albers) Pitts. Travis leaves behind a legacy of love and commitment that will forever be cherished by his family and friends.

Education played a significant role in Travis's life journey. He pursued his academic goals at Garden City Community College where he earned his associate's degree and being on the Bronc Buster Rodeo Team, before completing his bachelor's degree in Animal Science at Fort Hays State University.

Travis's career at Irsik & Doll Feedyard was emblematic of his hard work and passion. Starting as a tank washer, he climbed the ranks to become the Assistant Feedyard Manager. His dedication to ensuring efficiency and excellence in his work was unparalleled, setting him apart as a respected figure in his field. Coworkers enjoyed having him around because he was always willing to show them how to do something rather than telling them he was an exceptional leader. 

Travis married Jodi Colleen Wright on April 6, 2013 at Wilroads Garden Church in Dodge City, Kansas. Their love was special and not often did you see one without the other, they enjoyed all things horses together. 

Travis and family are active members of Pierceville Federated Church, his love for Jesus is where he got his strength through his courageous battle with cancer. 

Outside of work, Travis found true joy in spending time with his family. He and his wife Jodi were inseparable as they supported their twin sons Jaxson and Tryan in all their endeavors, from sporting events to various activities like soccer, 4-H, and rodeoing. The bond they shared was a testament to the deep love and care Travis had for his family.

Known for his unique personality traits such as love, care, humor, intelligence, and dedication to his loved ones, Travis touched the hearts of all who knew him. His charisma and sense of humor made him a beloved figure among his family and friends. Travis had many interests outside of work and family. He shared a special bond with his nephew Logan in handling breeding matters of all the horses. Their adventures in selecting studs and broodmares showcased Travis's joyful spirit and shared passion for their work together on all the well bred colts and fillies the kids will have for many years to come. Some of his most special team roping runs came with nephew, Jhett, they had quite the bond, two ornery "kids" together. 

His love for all things rodeo and team roping from a young age into his children and throughout his adult life. He was a member of the United States Team Roping Association and American Quarter Horse Association. He dedicated much of his time to Young Guns Rodeo Association, he was unknowingly "asked" by his Melissa to be on the board and help out. His idea of a summer series around the house came up in the Southwest Kansas Youth Roundup, it was nice to have something around the house for all of the local kiddos. 

On March 26, 2016 marked one of the proudest moments in Travis's life when he and Jodi welcomed twin boys Jaxson and Tryan. These two young boys were the center of Travis's world, reflecting his unwavering dedication to being a loving father and following them and supporting them in all of their endeavors they chose to have. 

 Left behind is his dear wife Jodi Pitts; beloved sons Jaxson and Tryan Pitts; father Terry Pitts and companion Sandra Jantz; sister Melissa Vander Hamm and her husband Scott; mother-in-law Laurie Wright; brother-in-law Jarett Wright and wife Emily; special nieces and nephews including Jhett, Logan, Lily, and Theo; numerous caring aunts uncles cousins friends who will hold onto cherished memories of time spent with him.

Travis was greeted at heaven's gates by his mother Roxie Pitts and father-in-law Jim Wright—a reunion filled with eternal peace and love.

In lieu of flowers the family request memorials be made to Pitts Twin Education Fund or TP Legacy Fund, in the care of Robson Funeral Home, 620 N. Main Street, Garden City, Kansas. 

Visitation service will be held on Sunday, July 28th from 2 P.M. until 8 P.M. and Monday, July 29th from 10 A.M. until 8 P.M. with family receiving friends from 5 P.M. until 7 P.M., at Robson Funeral Home, 620 N. Main Street, Garden City. 

Celebration of Life will be at Finney County Fairgrounds-Arena, 10 A.M. on Tuesday, July 30, 2024. Burial to follow at Valley View Cemetery, in Garden City with Pastor Mike MacWhinnie presiding. 

The world has lost an extraordinary individual whose light will continue to shine through the lives he touched. May Travis Lee Pitts rest peacefully knowing he was deeply loved and will be forever missed.
