Vaden Gary Shorter, 60, died on Thursday, February 8, 2018 at Bob Wilson Memorial Hospital, Ulysses, KS.
He was the son of Charles Philip and Vera Margene (Moore) Shorter. He was born on June 13, 1957 in Ulysses, KS.
He was a rural mail carrier for the United States Postal Services for 25 years in Ulysses and a farmer.
He loved and enjoyed his family. He was a member of No-till on the Plains and a member of the Grant County Farm Bureau Board.
He was very active as a youth in the Bearcreek Boosters 4-H Club.
His passion was farming. Vaden’s hobbies were car racing, tractor pulls and All-Star Wrestling.
He graduated from Ulysses High School in 1976 and graduated from Beloit Vo-tech with a diploma in Agriculture in 1978.
Survivors include his mother, Vera Margene Shorter, Ulysses, KS.; two brothers, Marvin Shorter, Holyrood, KS., Verlin Shorter and wife Dinah, Ulysses, KS.; three sisters, Lucinda Davis and husband Dwayne, Pickens, SC., Johanna Aleck and husband Marc, Clemson, SC., Janet Freed and husband Robert, Delta, CO., special friend, Susan Blair of Satanta, KS, eight nieces and nephews, five great nieces and nephews, and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father Charles Philip Shorter and nephew Cale Davis.
A memorial has been established for St. Jude’s Children Hospital, American Cancer Society, Future Farmers of America or Grant County 4-H. Memorials may be mailed to Paul’s-Robson Funeral Home, 218 S. Main St., Ulysses, KS 67880.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, February 19, 2018 at 10AM at Country View Baptist Church, Ulysses, KS and burial at Ulysses Cemetery, Ulysses, KS.
Friends may call Saturday 10-8PM and Sunday 2-8PM at the funeral home.
